Client and project:
Mercedes Benz USA - 2008:  Mercedes Benz parts as executive boardroom and dealership furnishings designed by Steven Shaver.
Design direction:
Steven was asked to create furnishings made with obsolete Mercedes Benz car parts.  The client's Mercedes Benz wheel rims were chosen to become corporate furnishings.  (Other parts are on the palette awaiting an artistic purpose).  For the coffee table, he created a unique base so that the rim can rotate on the pedestal.  For the sofa height / display table  Steven incorporated an elegant stainless steel base.  Since the rims were used, the challenge was to cover the chips on the rim's edges and protect and support the glass.  Stripes or black ribbed conduit were incorporated and wrapped snug around the rim edges to resolve this.
Parts and materials: 
Mercedes Benz wheel rims with added chrome lugs nuts, emblem, valve stem and cap, stripe and black conduit tubing.
Chrome and black base with hydraulic parts.  Black wheel casters.  Stainless steel base.  Black ABS.  24" and 28" round glass tops respectively.
 

Client and project:
Gates Corporation - 2006:   Ford F-150 engine parts corporate lobby clock custom designed by Steven Shaver.
Design direction:
Steven was asked to create a giant, one-of-a-kind lobby clock made with their Ford F-150 engine parts. The design direction was to build the clock in a configuration similar to the real engine using the parts and belts so that they would fit together precisely and be light enough to hang on the wall.
Parts and materials:
Ford F-150 Engine parts:  Idlers, pulleys, dampers and tensioners and rubber belts.
3 foot diameter brushed aluminum circle on black ABS with edges wrapped in black car trim.
Quartz clock component with 17" long metal hands.
Gates logo laser engraved on aluminum disc.
 

Client and project:
Advanced Emissions Specialists - 2006:  Firebird car themed lobby furnishings custom designed by Steven Shaver.
Design direction:
Steven was asked to create car shop lobby furnishings made with genuine "old school" Pontiac Firebird parts.  He made a timing chain and gears wall clock with an added Firebird emblem and chrome wheel rim and brake rotor tables with stripes and the Firebird lettering and wheel emblem.  The grand challenge was to create a sofa bench, so Steven came up with a design that combined a 1969 Firebird trunk lid as the seat,  a 1967 Trans Am rear spoiler as the back rest and 4 stock wheel rims for the base!  The sofa was professionally upholstered in racing red and black fabric and embroidered with the Firebird name.
Parts and materials:
Sofa bench:  New 1969 Firebird trunk lid and 1967 Trans Am rear spoiler.  Racing red and black fabric embroidered with the Firebird name.  4 Stock wheel rims with Firebird emblem and lug nuts.  Thick black ABS.
Wall clock:  Chevy engine timing chain set with Firebird emblem.  Black painted gears.  Quartz clock component.. 
Tables:  Chrome plated brake rotors and wheel rim, respectively.  Firebird emblem, stripes and lettering.  Glass top.

Client and project:
A classic car showroom - 2005:   Classic 1956 Chevy Bel-Air office desk custom designed by Steven Shaver.
Design direction:
Steven was asked to create one-of-a-kind, office desk made from a part of a classic 1956 Chevy Bel-Air as a surprise for the owner of a classic car showroom.  The design challenge was to find an original trunk deck, restore it and transform it into a functional desk.
Parts and materials:
Original, restored and black painted 1956 Chevy Bel-Air trunk deck.  Glass top (not shown).
Reproduction classic Chevy Bel-Air trunk emblems, lock and an original 1956 license plate.
Chrome legs welded to a custom made frame.
Underside wrapped in black, Chevy upholstery.
Wood center drawer with track.

Solera Inc. - 2007

Client and project:
Solera, Inc. - 2007:  Car part furniture for the corporate office custom made and designed by Steven Shaver.
Design direction:
Steven was asked to create custom automotive furniture and wall art made with unique, high end car parts and include the company's logo.      
Parts and materials:
Grill Wall Clock:  Black painted Mercedes cowl grill fitted with clock component large clock hands.  Brushed aluminum board  with black car trim edging and Solera logo.
Table:  Recycled transmission case and flywheel painted in metallic silver with glass top.
Centerpiece:  New dragster tire, plated rim and lug nuts with Solera logo and glass top.
Table:  60's style wood and metal steering wheel with original, restored 1964 Impala hubcap.  Blue Chevy bow tie emblem.  Chrome column and glass top.
