project:
NY Toast
- 2006:
Client thank you gift
clock given to
Chainsaw Edit Inc.
custom
designed by Steven Shaver.
Design
direction:
Steven was asked to create a "cutting edge" art piece made from
chainsaw parts. The recipient was a "cutting edge" film
and television editing company (Academy awards, MTV and American
Idol) that had a chainsaw themed interior. So
appropriately a chainsaw clock was perfect.
Steven
wanted to show the inner workings of the chainsaw so he found a
chainsaw crankcase (the skeletal structure) that beautifully
conveyed this and combined it with a chainsaw bar and chain.
The sculptural structure was suspended over a metal and ABS base. Long scissor like metal hands
put the clock in motion.
Parts
and materials:
New chainsaw bar and metal chain.
Recycled chainsaw crankcase painted in metallic silver.
Black ABS
and aluminum base.
Quartz clock component with 14" long metal hands.
Recipient:
Chainsaw
Edit, Inc.
